Three Conveyor System in Rockwell Software Studio 5000

Three Conveyor System in Rockwell Software Studio 5000

Here we are given with ‘N’ number of conveyor motors and are expected to generate a sequence that doesn’t jam or cause a delay in the raw materials or the by-products being transferred from the one part of the plant to the other plant.

With the ‘N’ number of conveyor motors being in line,  should automate for the Nth (last) motor to be switched on first because, for example, if  have three motors say A, B and C,  have to switch on C first because, if  switch on A before switching on B and C then the incoming coal would get accumulated at B as B will be switched on after some delay after switching on A.

This would lead to accumulation of coal, delay and wastage of raw material as coal would reach the plant only after C conveyor is switched on that would be long after A is switched on and the accumulation of coal at the starting of B conveyor would lead to huge wastage of coal. In addition to this, to maintain the continuous supply of raw material to the plant and to simultaneously transfer the by-product from the plant to the respective areas, it necessary to maintain a proper sequence of conveyor automation to overcome delay and loss of material.

The below attached screenshot is the ladder logic of the conveyor sequence automation. Here I have used ‘ON DELAY TIMER’ to create a delay after switching on the first motor to give some time for the first conveyor to reach its end before switching on the subsequent ones.

Also, each conveyor motor has starting and stopping time delay provided.
